Why does my dishwasher smell sour even after a cycle?
Usually it's trapped food in the filter, the sump, or the loop in the drain hose. Standing water goes stale fast. Clean the filter, then run a hot empty cycle. If the smell comes back within days, something is holding water where it shouldn't.
Is hard water really hurting the machine?
Yes. Mineral scale builds up on the heating element, the spray arm holes, and the inlet valve screen. The wash gets weaker, the dry gets worse, and parts wear out early. Rinse aid and periodic descaling slow that down considerably.
Should I repair it or replace it?
Depends on what failed. Pumps, valves, latches, heaters, and control boards are common repairs when the tub is still sound. A cracked tub or a rusted-through frame is a different conversation. We tell you plainly what we find.
How long does a service visit take?
Most calls run about an hour. We diagnose, test a cycle, and explain the fault. If the part is one we stock on the van, we often finish the same trip. Special-order parts mean a second visit.
Can a garbage disposal cause dishwasher problems?
Often. If the disposal knockout plug was never removed at install, the dishwasher can't drain. A clogged disposal backs water up too. We check that connection on any drainage complaint.
