Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — Book a Visit Today

Lint does not vanish. It packs into the duct, ring by ring, until hot air has nowhere to go. Then clothes come out damp, the laundry room smells scorched, and the dryer runs cycle after cycle. In older farmhouses around here, vent runs are long, crushed behind drywall, or dumped into a crawlspace where moisture sits. Some end in a flap a bird has claimed. Our visit starts at the dryer, follows the duct to the exterior hood, and clears the whole path with rotating brushes and airflow readings. We reconnect crushed transitions, swap flexible foil for rigid metal, and repair or replace the outside cap. Blocked vents are a fire risk, so do not wait on it. Call us and tell us what your dryer is doing.

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — residential dryer vent cleaning & being serviced

The dryer vent cleaning & symptoms we hear most

  • Takes three cycles to dry one load Restricted exhaust from packed lint or a crushed duct run
  • I smell something hot when it runs Lint buildup near the heater or blocked exhaust holding heat inside
  • The outside flap never opens anymore Failed or lint-jammed exterior vent hood
  • Laundry room feels like a sauna Disconnected transition duct venting into the room or wall cavity
  • Dryer shuts off partway through Thermal cutoff tripping from airflow loss in the vent line

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Peek behind the dryer to see if the flexible duct is kinked, crushed, or pulled loose from the wall collar.
  • 2Walk outside while the dryer runs and feel whether warm air is actually pushing out of the hood.
  • 3Clear the lint screen, then hold it under running water; if water beads instead of passing through, softener film is choking airflow.
  • 4Look for lint fuzz, nesting material, or a stuck damper at the exterior cap and note what you see.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe the noise, the smell, the puddle. Brand and model help. We ask a few questions so the van carries the right parts before we ever pull in.

  2. Step 2

    We come find you

Gravel drive, creek crossing, farm lane off a county route — give us a landmark and we'll get there. We text before we head out so nobody sits by the window all day waiting.

  3. Step 3

    Diagnose, then repair

We open the machine, test the part, and show you what failed. You hear the plan before any work starts. Common parts ride with us, so many jobs finish on the same visit.

Dryer Vent Cleaning & Repair — quick answers

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year suits most households. Bigger families, pets that shed, or a long duct run through a crawlspace may need it twice. If drying times creep up between visits, that is your real signal, not the calendar.

Is a clogged dryer vent actually dangerous?

Yes. Trapped lint plus trapped heat is how laundry room fires start. A blocked gas dryer vent can also push combustion byproducts indoors. That combination is why we treat airflow as a safety item, not just a laundry annoyance.

Can I clean the vent myself with a kit?

Short, straight runs are doable with a brush kit. Trouble comes with long runs, elbows, roof terminations, or ducts buried behind finished walls. If you cannot reach both ends, partial cleaning just relocates the clog deeper.

Why is flexible foil duct a problem?

Foil and plastic ducting sags, kinks at corners, and its ridges grab lint. Rigid or semi-rigid metal keeps a smooth path and resists crushing when the dryer slides back. We swap transitions to metal whenever the space allows it.

My vent goes through the roof. Can you still clean it?

Usually. Roof and second-story terminations need different tools and a longer rod set, and we work from whichever end gives safe access. Tell us the route when you call us so we bring the right equipment.

Will cleaning the vent fix a dryer that never heats?

Sometimes. Restricted airflow trips thermal fuses and cutoffs, and those parts do not reset themselves once blown. We clear the vent, then test heating components, so you learn whether the duct was the cause or just a symptom.

Why homeowners call us

  • Coal-country water eats machinesHard water and iron leave scale on heaters, valves, and pumps. Dishwashers film over. Washers clog. We see it every week and we clean and replace the parts that mineral buildup actually ruins.
  • Old farmhouse wiring, respectedPlenty of homes here run on two-prong outlets and panels older than the appliance. Low voltage and shared circuits cause faults people blame on the machine. We check the power before condemning a board.
  • Mike's name on the truckThis is a small workshop, not a call center. The person who answers knows the tech who shows up. If something isn't right after we leave, you call us and reach us directly.
  • Independent on every brandWe work on refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and freezers from all major makers. No brand tells us what to recommend. Sometimes the honest answer is that a repair isn't worth doing.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
